It’s a global issue, yet South Africa ranks in the top thirty water-scarce countries in the world. Demand is increasing with population growth and urbanization, yet our infrastructure is already under huge strain.
Our consumption per person is high at between 218 to 237 litres a day, compared to a global average of 173 litres.
As a country, we’ve adopted a United Nations resolution to provide clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. A date that is becoming uncomfortably close with many obstacles to overcome.
And yet, at least in public, we hear barely a word.
That’s something Safripol decided to change.

Water scarcity is genuinely becoming a water crisis. But the idea behind the podcast series is not to underline doom and gloom.
The opposite is true.
By better understanding the problem, generating awareness and advocating solutions, we believe that water resilience for South Africa is possible.
The podcast series assembles a cast of experts in diverse fields who shed light on the many local challenges and motivate locally devised solutions.
