High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

We utilise Hoechst slurry polymerization technology, which was originally derived from Hostalen. A technology agreement with Lyondellbasell allows for further updates of the technology as might be needed to meet the requirements of the market.

HDPE is polymerized from ethylene to produce a plastic with excellent stiffness and environmental stress crack resistance. It has superb chemical resistance and low water absorption and is easily processed and machined. The main applications of HDPE include blow-moulded containers, crates, drums, blown film and pipe. It is ideally suited to food contact applications.

Safripol also produces a HDPE containing carbon black for the pipe industry which is conforming to PE 100 pipe specification.

Pipe and Extrusion Applications
MFR (190°C/5kg): 0.30 g/10min
Density: 0.957 g/cm3

iMPACT 100® is a black High Density Polyethylene resin designed for all dimensions of PE100 pressure pipe where transportation of potable water, effluent, slurry and certain chemical substances is required. It is a bimodal high molecular weight resin with excellent processing characteristics, impact strength and good resistance to environmental stress cracking, abrasion, chemical attack and UV radiation.

iMPACT 100®High Density Polyethylene Resin is supplied only in the form of black UV resistant granules.

Typical applications
