The CAIA (Chemical and Allied Industries’ Association) Awards recognize outstanding contributions in sustainability, safety, health, and environmental stewardship within South Africa’s chemical industry. These awards celebrate companies and initiatives that uphold the principles of Responsible Care, a global initiative.
We’re thrilled to announce that Safripol has won the prestigious 2024 Responsible Care Initiative of the Year Award for our Let’s Plastic Responsibly (LPR) Initiative in the CRS Project Category A! This achievement recognizes our commitment to sustainability and responsible plastic use across South Africa.
Winning a CAIA award, especially in categories like Responsible Care Initiative of the Year, highlights Safripol’s dedication to sustainable practices and community-focused projects that align with global environmental goals.
Through our impactful LPR initiative, we invested R13 million in 2023 and 2024 to drive positive social change, promoting responsible behaviour around plastic usage and recycling. This award is a testament to our collective efforts in building a more sustainable future for all.
Additionally, we received acknowledgment awards for our impactful projects in Renewable Energy, Environmental Stewardship, and the Inani Startwell Feeding Scheme:
- Renewable Energy Project: A monumental investment of R180 million in our 10MW solar plant, reducing CO₂ emissions by 18,621 tonnes annually.
- Everyday Environmental Heroes: 251 everyday environmental heroes comprises employees, families and friends contributed to Safripol’s clean-up initiatives in key areas, fostering active citizenship and environmental responsibility.
- Inani Startwell Feeding Scheme: Fighting malnutrition in 2,600 children, helping to improve growth and health for a brighter future.
