In a world striving for sustainability and responsible waste management, Green Corridors has emerged as a trailblazer, revolutionising the construction industry with their innovative Green Paver product. By diverting waste materials from landfills and integrating them into durable concrete pavers, Green Corridors is redefining the concept of environmentally friendly infrastructure.
Driving Circular Economy: At the core of Green Corridors’ mission is the commitment to a circular economy. Traditional waste materials that are currently land-filled and not recycled, such as, multilayer plastics, low value glass, street sweepings, building rubble and alien invasive plants amongst others, are processed and skilfully blended with cement to create their innovative Green Pavers. By re-purposing and integrating waste materials, Green Corridors significantly reduces the burden on landfills while simultaneously addressing the critical need for sustainable construction practices.
Environmental Impact: One of the key benefits of Green Pavers is their environmentally conscious design. With 87% waste material (by volume) fully integrated into each paver and surface cured, Green Corridors ensures that the Green Pavers are safe and fit for purpose, without any substances leaching out and potentially harming the environment. This sustainable approach not only minimises waste but also preserves natural resources and reduces carbon emissions associated with traditional construction materials.
Durability and Longevity: Green Pavers are not only eco-friendly but also built to last. The top surface of each paver is reinforced with a particularly hard layer made from recycled glass. This innovative design ensures exceptional durability and longevity, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, including sidewalks, pathways, and outdoor spaces.
Creating Sustainable Opportunities: Green Corridors goes beyond environmental impact by creating sustainable job opportunities. With each production line requiring only four previously unskilled staff members, Green Pavers generate income and support economic growth. The success of this approach not only benefits the local community but also paves the way for similar initiatives to flourish in other cities and regions.
Fostering Awareness and Education: Green Corridors’ commitment to sustainable practices extends beyond their products. By designing Green Pavers with vibrant coloured plastic on the top surface, they aim to raise awareness and inspire others to re-think waste management. These visually striking pavers serve as a reminder that waste materials can be transformed into valuable resources and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Expansion and Collaboration: Driven by their vision of a greener future, Green Corridors plans to establish multiple facilities around eThekwini to further prove their business model’s success. These facilities, which require an investment of approximately R 500 000 each, will serve as hubs for sustainable production, creating opportunities for scaling up production and reaching even greater environmental impact.
