Our company in its present form is a direct consequence of strategic acquisitions by KAP over the past few years. Through organic growth, infrastructure investment and acquisitions, we’ve grown to become the second-largest polymer producer in sub- Saharan Africa.

Safripol Sasolburg

Safripol Sasolburg is home to our High-Density Polyethylene and Polypropylene manufacturing plants.  It’s here where we produce circa 160kt of HDPE and 120kt of PP annually.

Safripol Durban

Home to our PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) resin facility.  This plant enjoyed a cutting-edge upgrade during 2017, and now has a capacity of 240kt per annum.

Safripol Piet Retief

Safripol Piet Retief produces various urea formaldehyde (UF) resins for the panel industry. These facilities also hold the record of being the largest producer of wood panel resins in Africa.

Innovative products

POLYPROPYLENE (PP)

We are proud to be one of the top PP producers in Africa today. PP is a lightweight, moderately high melting point plastic with high stiffness, hardness and strength. It’s produced from propylene monomer as a homopolymer.

HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE)

HDPE is polymerised from ethylene to produce a plastic with excellent stiffness and environmental-stress crack resistance. It offers superb chemical resistance and low water absorption, while also being easily processed and machined.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET)

Aspire PET is a top-quality thermoplastic material used for injection and stretch blow-moulding of bottles used for mineral water, carbonated soft drinks, fruit juice, dairy products, edible oils, and cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.

UREA FORMALDEHYDE (UF)

Formaldehyde, our base raw material with a production capacity of 106kt of UF resin annually. Formaldehyde gas is manufactured through a continuous process of catalytic oxidation of methanol and absorption of the gas into liquid.
